Good morning!

I like to start my yoga classes with a small ritual. It also accompanies me in the mornings as a shot of positive energy for the rest of the day and an act of self-love. Because I am worth it 🙂

You often hear this advice: you don’t like getting up early? Introduce a ritual to your morning schedule that will make you look forward to. There are a lot of small pleasures that come to my mind. Favorite tea in a favorite mug, favorite song, hot shower, you name it.

If you can organize for yourself an additional 5-10 minutes in the morning you may be interested in a ritual in the spirit of yoga, Ayurveda and mindfulness.

If you are still reading this, there is a chance that saving those few minutes in the morning is feasible 🙂 So, let’s take a closer look at it.

Sit on the mat / bed / chair / armchair and close your eyes (but finish reading first :)). Sitting with your eyes closed, try to straighten and lengthen your spine. Breathe calmly, naturally. Put your hands together in a namaste gesture, prayer position, and, if you feel like, chant the mantra Om.  Feel its vibration in you and around you.

Start rubbing your palms together. When you feel that they are already warm, put them at your heart. Feel the warmth of your palms and think of something really nice about yourself. The most beautiful compliment that comes to your mind. It’s not always easy, I know. But give it a try. And check with yourself how you feel. Feel the warmth of your palm and the warmth that fills your heart when you give yourself this gesture of love.

Start rubbing your palms again to warm them up. This time, when the hands are already warmed, put them to the place in the body which is weakened at the moment, needs additional support, some attention and love. Often, just noticing the discomfort in the body, paying attention to it, allows you to relieve pain. Sometimes we can help ourselves by breathing tension out from the body.  Take your time, let the heat from your palms penetrate the body.

For the third and last time, start rubbing your palms against each other. This time, cover your eyelids with hot palms. Do not press your hands against your eyelids, let the heat relax the muscles around the eyes. Do not rush.

Put your hands on your knees. Open your eyes. Smile.

Namaste!
