Who doesn’t like and has never done psychological tests? There is probably no such person. They are better or worse, having more or less sense. So you can determine which Disney princesses you are or explore your original nature, or prakriti, or check which of the doshas began to deviate from the norm, thereby determining your vikriti.
You won’t find the Disney test here, but I invite you to take a test for determining the dominant dosha. The test is prepared based on the book by Melanie Sachs Ayurvedic Beauty Care. But before what, a few words of introduction.
Doshas theory is one of the most important Ayurvedic theories. You can find a short theoretical introduction here. Defining the dominant dosha, or prakriti is so important because it allows us to understand our nature, inclinations, identify strengths and weaknesses. We know the ground, so it’s easier to build on it. Our prakriti, or individual combination of three doshas, is determined at conception and can be influenced short after birth. Once established, it does not change.
Wait a minute, you say, but only recently I have been constantly irritated, my loved ones tell me that I have become critical and I’m suffering from heartburn. What has happened? The fire has increased. Fire or Pitta.
Such deviation from the norm, the appearance of certain features, tendencies, ailments that we have not noticed before is called vikriti, resulting from the deviation from the norm of the state of doshas. It is a condition that can be described as morbid because it does not coincide with the natural pattern. It is interesting as it allows to determine what dosha has been disturbed, which then allows to take appropriate measures to balance it back.
Prakriti, vikriti and only one test. One, but it’s worth sitting down to it twice. The first time answer the question keeping in mind that you want to determine what is the most common for you, what kind of tendencies are and has always been with you over the years. However, the second approach should be an attempt to answer the question how it is at the moment. For example, you have always been skinny. Gaining weight was simply impossible, you could eat whatever you wanted and still be light as a feather (prakriti – Vata). However recently you noticed few extra kilograms coming from nowhere (vikriti – Kapha raising).
Read the following statements, it is obvious that not everything will be a match, because then we would live in a world of clones. It’s about determining whether I am closer to Vata or Kapha, or maybe I find myself most in the description of Pitta? Everything seems to be right when you read the description of the typical Pitta appearance, but you have snow-white teeth … Good for you! If, nevertheless, you are closer to Pitta than the other doshas, these one / two / three incompatibilities do not cross everything else out. The answers may vary, your look is dictated more by Kapha, but your appetite is Pitta like. That is fine!
The one-dosha constitution pure Vata, pure Pita, pure Kapha are extremely rare. People with Tridoshas constitution, in whom the characteristics of Vata, Pitta and Kapha are found in equal proportions, are not often found. Usually one of the doshas dominates, the second one in turn is slightly weaker, while the characteristics of the third are very few.
To determine prakriti and vikriti, it’s best to consult an Ayurvedic doctor who is able to determine them based on a pulse reading. You can also get advice from an Ayurvedic therapist or consultant. As for the questionnaires, they allow you to look at yourself from a new perspective, but all with a healthy distance.
